Peter Ho Davies has written two anthologies of short stories for adults, The Ugliest House in the World (1998) and Equal Love (2000). His work has been published as short fiction in literary magazines and anthologies. His first novel, The Welsh Girl (2007), set in a Welsh village during the Second World War, was longlisted for the 2007 MAN Booker Prize.
The son of Welsh and Chinese parents, Peter Ho Davies grew up in Britain. After gaining a degree in Physics at the University of Manchester, he went on to study English Literature at Cambridge. He worked in publishing before moving to the US where he gained an MA in Creative Writing at Boston University. He now teaches Creative Writing at the University of Michigan.
