eLearning08: Into the future of education

REPORT | Melanie Doriean, Australian Flexible Learning Framework

Mel DorieanLast December, the Australian Flexible Learning Framework held the NSW eLearning08 Conference to showcase the outcomes of 38 projects that had received funding under the E-learning Innovation Program in 2008. The conference was deemed a great success with over 250 attendees each day of the 2-day event.

Mark PesceMark Pesce has been exploring the frontiers of media and technology for a quarter of a century, with a strong focus on education.

Mark Pesce’s keynote address on what education might look like in the future and the growing power of the learner/consumer to choose and determine the content, style and format of their learning provided much food for thought and sparked lively discussion.

The industry panel session was well received as the attendees enjoyed hearing about the challenges faced by industry in developing and delivery of training across huge organizations.  In 2009 the Framework hopes to host an online forum to allow more “conversation” on mutual topics of interest.

Each project presented the story of their project in themed panel sessions and sharing of these stories provided much insight and inspiration to the attendees.
